Victorian Carbon Farming Program (VCFP)
The Victorian Government provided grants for revegetation as part of the Victorian Carbon Farming Program (VCFP) Pilot program in North Central Victoria (July 2023 to December 2024). The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) is now reviewing the pilot to consider new opportunities in 2025.
The pilot supported registered landholders to:
- plant woodlot, agroforestry and shelterbelt trees
- realise on-farm co-benefits such as shade and shelter for stock and soil improvement
- leverage opportunities available from timber, carbon or environmental markets or use carbon credits to offset your own carbon generation.
TreeProject supports participating landholders by:
- Growing indigenous species suitable for your planting site.
- Developing the joint project plan (species, site design, feasibility, management), with assistance from local experts such as Landcare.
- Determining the grant amount a landholder will receive (based on carbon calculations using the FullCAM model)
- Facilitating legal agreements with DEECA
- Monitoring and evaluating progress over a 10-year period
